Vendor: Flip Video (Cisco)
Models: MinoHD, UltraHD (1st, 2nd generation, 4GB, 8GB) and slideHD
Status: Routinely repaired.
Flip Video offers simple and affordable cameras for HD recording. Flip was acquired by Cisco in 2010, who announced discontinuance of Flip products in 2011.
Mino HD and Ultra HD cameras can record in 1280x720, 30 frames per seconds (or 50/60 for 2nd generation cameras).
They create MPEG4 .mp4 files containing a H264 video track and audio encoded in AAC format.
The causes of failure reported by Flip users needing to repair files are:
- Battery dead during recording
- Accidental deletion of files
- File from camera is unplayable
The damaged files cannot be opened because recording did terminate abruptly, or movie index recovered from deletion is incorrect: While the media (video and audio) is present and not corrupt, the index and header of the movie indicating what the data means, is not present.
Repair consists in reindexing the movie.
Damaged files from Flip cameras are detected as "Mobile / Point and Shoot", and as such have an affordable pricing. See Pricing Chart.
