IMX is a professional SD broadcast codec.
Technically, IMX (also called Betacam IMX or MPEG IMX) uses MPEG-2 compression. All the frames are compressed as I-frames with 4:2:2 Y'CbCr profile.
IMX video was often recorded in Betacam tapes, but has recently transitioned to file-based workflows: IMX is usually found inside a .MXF wrapper.
IMX flavors supported:
- IMX NTSC 30 Mbit/s or 50 Mbit/s
- IMX PAL 30 Mbit/s or 50 Mbit/s
We have successfully repaired IMX footage by developing specific Repair Kits:
- Repaired Videos have same quality as originally recorded
- Repaired Videos come in same MXF containers as normal footage, and are compatible with production workflow
IMX repairs are available through our Production HQ plans.
